There are loads of floodlit driving range bays complete with target greens, 2 chipping greens, a large practice bunker and putting greens.

The Callaway Academy at La Manga Club offers a diverse selection of golf schools adapted for both playing ability and learning style. Private tuition is also available. Golf schools run on various dates throughout the year. For more information about the golf schools call extension 1362

There are three 18 hole courses at La Manga Club and we strongly recommend you book tee times well in advance of your stay. Handicap certificates are supposedly required on the south course although never checked.  There is a dress code which is basically smart shorts and shirts with collars – no tee shirts or football shirts – no metal spikes. They are quite strict. 2-ball games will be made up to 4-ball at most busy times.  9 hole games can only be booked from about 3 hours before dusk.

Twilight rate allows as many holes as you can play before dark – better value and cooler but does not apply in July/August.

Golf Academy:  Runs every week from 9-12 Monday-Friday. Includes tuition and video analysis and is highly recommended for golfers of all standards. Book well in advance.

Weekly tournaments open run on a regular basis so check with club.

South Course

At 6,499 metres from the white tees, the South Course provides a test both for the scratch player and all handicaps with wide palm fringed fairways and water hazards that come into play on 15 of the 18 holes! The front nine holes are particularly challenging with two par 3's over 200 metres as well as some daunting par 4's which demands accurate driving between both  lakes and bunkers!

North Course

More undulating and picturesque but no less challenging. Slightly shorter than the South, with tighter fairways and larger greens, this course relies on precision rather than length with the added challenge provided by the “barrancas” that snake their way through the course. A feature of the greens, all built to USGA specification, is the amount of movement incorporated in them, especially the short Par 3 second green which has three distinct plateaus - a great test of putting skills for any golfer!

West Course

A challenging and tricky and pretty densely wooded course of  –par 72, Length 5,971m (white tees). Many ravines and water hazards. Difficult holes for beginners to start with but eases up a little later. We recommend playing this late afternoon/early evening. Buggy strongly recommended –pre book.

Tip: Golf clubs /trolley can be hired for about €40 so can be cheaper than carriage – try this website: Will deliver: www.lamangagolfclubhire.co.uk    info@lamangagolfclubhire.co.uk  Andy Nicholson

Off-site locations:

Las Ramblas. 45 mins drive but a similar test to the La Manga West Course. Barrancas throughout with some testing shots and tricky carries off the yellows. If you're feeling in form then a good test!

Las Colinas. 45 mins drive next door to Las Ramblas. Not your typical 'resort course' with a range of challenging holes made harder by undulating greens. A healthy challenge and very picturesque.

El Valle. 45 mins drive. Some interesting holes with fantastic panoramic views and mountainous backdrop in a natural desert valley. A change of scenery and well reviewed.

Roda. 30 mins drive. Slightly closer to home but a very solid golf course with a good balance of challenge but some forgiveness on width too. A lovely rooftop bar to drink a well earned pint after the round too!
